Shuffle dance fitness classes differ from regular shuffle classes in 2 major ways:
There’s less talking, more action. We crank the music the whole time and after the initial demonstrations of the moves, I won’t interrupt the party vibe by blabbering on about technical aspects of the moves :)
We do a lot of drills and repetition of the movements in this class to make sure everyone can really nail it, and to give advanced shufflers an opportunity to hone their technique
At shuffle dance fitness, the goal is to get a great workout and have fun doing it. The flow of class will look like this:
First 10 minutes - warm up and stretching
30 minutes of HIIT style training. I’ll demonstrate the moves for you and we go super slow on the first set. Then we blast the beats loud and cycling through the moves one by one on repeat to get them really marinating in your brain.
10 minutes of stringing the moves from class into a short routine and practicing it all together
10 minutes of specialty strengthening moves geared toward helping you become a better shuffler - followed by cool down
Everyone has the option to do the moves at full speed, or at half speed - making this class ideal for all levels beginner-advanced.
I recommend wearing breathable clothes like what you would wear to the gym, and comfortable sneakers without too much grip on the bottom.
Bring water! The studio has no water fountain and you’ll definitely want to be hydrating.
The studio requires clean sneakers to be worn on the floor. Lysol wipes will be available to wipe your shoes down (so get there a few minutes early), but if your sneakers are really dirty and crusty, you’ll be asked to remove them for class.
